I came across, Sally Matthews’ wonderful sculptures in a Homes & Gardens magazine piece recently. Her veterinary father inspired an observance of animals that led to drawn studies. Her sculpting work begins with a metal armature which she describes as a line drawing of the carcass and from there the life is breathed into these wonderful pieces……

The doyenne of taste and style, the queen of colour, Ms Tricia Guild has produced a tome of inspirations – this is a feast of the senses, a moodboard in a book, that takes us through all of Ms Guild’s influences with gorgeous imagery and just enough information to give us a broad brush stroke of creative stimulation……..wonderful!

Applecart.org is a fabulous online networking site for artists and has a really diverse mix of creatives sensitively edited and administered by Mr Tim Thomson from a Midlands base (though artists involved are from as far afield as New York!) and you are able to contact each one of us directly for information, sales, commissions or any kind of general enquiry about our work (just mention Applecart). They also run a very open Facebook page for perusal……………
This image here is my piece ‘Winter’ showcasing my link on the site, inks and pastels on Indian papers measuring 50cm x 50cm framed.

A very recent and wonderful event was to be invited in to the lovely Stella Maris Primary School as a judge for their talented young photographers who had produced a huge and diverse range of projects for a competition. Given complete free reign, these young gifted creatives all chose a vast array of completely different subjects and genres, presenting their own ideas in equally unique ways…….what a difficult job to choose and what a fabulously stimulating few hours I enjoyed with them all. Thank you!

my recent Open Studio weekend produced so much networking with other local creatives, a new local Arts Club is starting up in Heaton Moor at the good ‘ol Plough pub (naturally!) on the first Tuesday of the month where a few of us are hoping to chat, drink, eat (2 for 1 pizza, what’s not to like!) and maybe, just maybe, work on getting a local Arts Trail up and running……

For a few gorgeous hours on a winters afternoon I was lucky enough to sample the world of the super rich and made to feel like a film star at The Berkeley Hotel, Knightsbridge for a wonderful Pret a Portea; fashion inspired cakes, china, sandwiches….even down to the place card on my reserved table………truly needs to be seen to be believed…..

the relocated BBC is forcing set locators to view the North West suburbs with a fresh eye; a niche ethical boutique in the Cheshire suburb of Heaton Moor was set for Ben Elton’s forthcoming drama serial ’slings and arrows’ (working title) where a selection of silk scarves by yours truly featured in a prominent scene! Ben Elton was clear about a sumptuous exotic display and my silk certainly fitted the bill…….!! Next stop the world….?!!
